Amy Hannesson is a veteran in the Finance and Accounting field, combining decades of experience working with tribes, the federal government, and corporations.

Amy has a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Throughout her career, she has held multiple positions within the financial industry, primarily working with tribes for the last decade, where she has established her niche.

As a dedicated and detail- oriented accounting professional, Amy has fluently executed building cohesive, efficient management systems for tribes she has worked with. Her expertise in funds award management includes creating and implementing financial policies and procedures, conducting audit preparation, and launching and implementing new accounting software upgrades with successful transitions.  Amy also loves working with people, and routinely trains staff on accounting software management and accounting process improvements.

In her current role as Finance Director with the Chickahominy Indian Tribe in Virginia, Amy has expanded beyond the boundaries of a traditional financial executive and has led strategic initiatives that have positively impacted multiple business areas, improving overall performance of the tribe’s various business units.

Amy combines her financial management expertise and strong business acumen to view a business with a wide lens then narrows it down to seamlessly connect the dots. She solves the most complex financial problems by assessing and identifying areas of improvement.  She has a deep understanding of complex financial issues that surround the federal funding lifecycle and develops sound strategies that mitigate risks, and drive results. As a member of the Hummingbird Collective team, Amy is most excited about joining us in our collective vision to nurture a federal funding ecosystem that is transparent and accessible to all.
